Creating a more equitable world
At Catalight, we are focused on increasing access to behavioral health services. This work is especially important as the CDC Autism & Developmental Disabilities Monitoring Network found that 17% of children in the U.S. between the ages of three and 17 that have one or more developmental disabilities. And the majority of the counties in our country lack the necessary resources to provide a timely diagnosis. In fact, a Rutgers’ study reported that 25% of children with autism remain undiagnosed by eight years of age while Stanford scientists found that demand for autism treatment is 18 times larger than the available supply of care. By ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities receive early diagnosis and interventions along with ongoing access to services, we can help them and their families improve their quality of life.
Who we support
We provide funding to organizations that will help provide greater equity, community integration and true inclusion for people with developmental disabilities. Our early work has focused on supporting the sustainability and growth of our affiliate organizations that provide direct services and care. To date, we have given Easterseals Northern California nearly $1 million and Easterseals Hawaii more than $3 million in grants, so they can continue to provide exceptional, individualized, family-centered services to empower people with disabilities to achieve their goals and live independent, fulfilling lives.
