What’s in a word? Neurodiversity first appeared in print in The Atlantic 25 years ago. In the years since, the term has been important in helping us describe and appreciate the innate differences among us, whether we have Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDDs) or not. At the same time, it risks glossing over the large segment of people with profound autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and IDDs who need lifelong support.
