The first step in the care path for an individual who may present with a developmental disability is to have an assessment through a diagnostic evaluation. There is a high demand for psychologists trained to conduct these evaluations for children. Catalight is committed to providing excellent evaluation services that increases caregiver’s understanding and leads the way for them to access targeted support for their child.

Based on our robust behavioral health clinical data and research, Catalight knows just how critical it is to conduct a timely diagnostic evaluation for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), as this makes a significant difference in the child’s treatment outcome. To address this need for clinicians and families, we have developed a postdoctoral training program focusing on diagnostic assessments for ASD to improve the wellbeing of the individual and families.

Catalight’s annual virtual conference brings together behavioral health professionals, researchers and advocates to explore thoughtful, values-driven approaches to care for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. With the massive heterogeneity among the individuals our field supports, this year’s theme, ‘Advancing Practice with Purpose,’ challenges us to ask not just what works, but for whom and in what contexts — ensuring research-informed care is guided by both evidence and empathy
