Catalight’s Parent-Mediated Autism Care: Angela’s Family Story of Empowerment Video | May 12, 2025 By teaching caregivers behavioral health techniques that they can use at home, parent-mediated therapy is set up in a way that places the parent at the forefront of their child’s care. Parents are equipped with applied behavior analysis (ABA) strategies that they can use to support and teach their child at all times. With each session, Angela and her husband’s confidence grew as they learned how to build stronger connections with their children. The Catalight clinician Angela worked with via telehealth provided resources along the way, providing greater flexibility and less stress. As a graduate from Catalight’s program, Angela is overjoyed that she chose this path for her children’s care.“My overall feeling for parent-mediated therapy is that it is wonderful,” she said. “It gives the flexibility for the parents to effectively communicate and work with their children. It also empowers the parents because all the skills that are taught in everyday life, you can apply them when working with your children.” Angela’s choice to actively participate in her children’s treatment helped to advance her parenting skills and enhance the wellbeing of the entire family.
