Removing barriers and biases along the career journey for candidates with developmental disabilities. Compass-Work is a self-paced program that offers participants a unique set of tools to help them find a position that fits their strengths and sets them up for lifelong career success. According to a recent study, only about 33% of adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or intellectual and developmental disability (I/DD) secure a job or pursue further education after high school. In addition, approximately 80% of individuals with ASD or I/DD are unemployed, or underemployed which means they do not have a job or are in a job that does not match their skills or interests. As part of our career advancement services, Catalight offers a unique set of resources to candidates seeking employment. Compass-Work provides participants with a fully integrated set of modules and elements used from initial assessments to securing the position. This person-centered service focuses on the participant’s strengths and interests, providing a skilled career coach to guide them through the search process. Candidates will work on a variety of skills and tasks such as searching for the right job, negotiating and accepting job offers and building relationships. Once in the new position, an advocate offers overall career support as needed.
