Catalight Pathfinders: Gail McCabe Article | January 30, 2026 Pathfinders is a new series created to celebrate Catalight employees. Each month, we’ll spotlight an incredible employee working in one of the many diverse roles across our organization – shining light on both their work advancing care within the autistic and intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DDs) community and their passions outside of the office. Meet Gail McCabe Can you describe your role at Catalight? I am a clinical intake assessor. I complete the initial behavioral health treatment assessment with families as they enter their episode of care with Catalight. As assessors, we screen clients to determine if behavioral therapy would be appropriate for them and, if so, we make a preliminary treatment recommendation. Along with completing their initial assessment, I provide brief case management as needed until they are matched with a network provider. What is your favorite part about your job and why? I truly enjoy connecting with the families we serve. We are meeting them at an often overwhelming time in their lives and I really enjoy creating a safe space for them – providing comfort and hope as they start this new journey. How has your role evolved since you started working at the company? I initially started out as a variable hour assessor. Then, in July of 2023, I was hired as a full-time assessor. When I first started, I completed 2-3 intake assessments daily. Now we’ve moved into block scheduling that looks quite different – assessing between 6-7 clients a day but using a much more condensed screening tool that allows us to see more clients daily. What is a fun fact about you that most people may not know? I’m an avid reader. Recently, out of curiosity I started logging all my books and I discovered I read 70 books in one year! How do you like to unwind after a busy day at work? I typically take my dog for a walk; my son often joins us. We chat about our day and upcoming plans. We love to watch comedy in the evenings together. Currently we’re watching “Superstore”! What is your perfect meal? Anything someone else cooked for me!
